Social network in Data Works

Social network in Data Works

Guys in CUHK do many questionnaire survey everyday, especially these days near the exam. But do you believe there could be social network here? Here is a new pattern about this, which is after my latter article and give a new business pattern. Maybe you'll do questionnaire survey just in the same way latter.
Many received questionnaire survey from their classmates, but many a time, they are busy and somehow just finish it quickly and never think about the details. Besides, you may find your questionnaire surveys' answers are just chaotic and you can do nothing with them. Companies do surveys about the market, too. Microsoft lost about 1 billion USD just for the wrong answers of his survey about phone market and release the wrong Microsoft Kit(a phone designed for youths to enjoy and enlarge their social network).Maybe it's nothing when you finish your homework via a not so good survey answers but means when we turn to the market.
So you may use the questionnaire survey system called "Data Works", which work efficiently via social network. The core of this online system is to invite and share.
Every useful survey is designed for a kind of people, that is ,the target customer. So why not to invite your customer fill with it instead of getting them all form your classmate or friends who wants to help you. Anyway, you know the sample can't be all your friends expect we what do a survey about your friendship circle. What we need is just two things, the right people and the right answer just as follows:
-The Right People
Many organization just do their survey directly to their target customer. They give out survey paper to people in the street or attach a survey letter with the product and every answer means a small gift or a luck draw. Some even personally go to customers' home and do it face to face when it comes to a serious situation. Anyway, it cost but maybe not get the right answer.
-The Right Answer
Needless to say that the right answer means a lot when you make decisions. Wrong survey never leads you to the right decision. But usually you just get not so efficient answers or the deadline is coming but you can not find enough customers related.
The answer to this two issue is survey based on social network. For example, you want conduct a survey about how career go for finance students after they graduate four years, data form a circle of classmates in the same major is more useful than from separate individual.
Where is the different?
You can publish a survey or answer an old one on the website, each useful post will get you a little money. Since one get money form the survey, we can use some technological rules to ensure one must focus on the survey so does a better answer. You can give a"like"or "dislike"when you finish the survey. The system will remind you about your social network, that is, what's your friends' like or dislike, new surveys in your circle, besides, you can just invite your friend to help you in finishing the survey.
Besides, we can analyse their answers and give basic advice about your topic using professional data disposed methods. The most important thing is that the combination can give you more advice even you don't start your own survey. This's all produced by data base stored in the database.
Who will use it?
-The government and official department of statistics
-University and Science department
-University students who want have a data base about their study
-Companies who what know more about the market
Typical Applications:
-Microsoft lost 1 billion after the wrong market research of its phone Microsoft Kit.
-American government's wrong judgment about whether the PLA would be involved in North Korea's War.
-Wal-Mart's building storage about goods
-American Selection
More data means more things. When you have enough data, you have everything. The next generation is big data generation. Why people focus on Computing Cloud? The core is data, the ability to collect and analyse enough data. The data help you in knowing more about the dynamic market and make better decisions, no matter you are in your business or in a selection. The first hand data always give us a glimpse of the future.

On Privacy of Social Communities in Pervasive Networks (case study)

On Privacy of Social Communities in Pervasive Networks (case study)

Every day, mobile operators collect large amounts users' data, specially the billing, throughput, coverage and usage statistics. The data usually come with explicit information likes duration, cost and location and do great help when we start to analyze people's life patterns. Say, social network analyze (SNA) can do a lot via the data collected by location based social network between mobile users.
People shares their activities, locations, interests and social networks on their twitter or mindless, which can actually do a great more in analyzing people’s behavior and the way they enjoy life. For example, one may use whatsapp (or wechat) to communicate with his friends and enjoy it. But they may never notice the dynamic relationship change when they make new friends.
In a research conducted by Nokia, they address this problem of community privacy by taking a comparative analysis of the exposure of social relationships and encounters in a deployed wireless peer-to-peer(P2P) network. Over a four month trial in 2010 with 80 participants, they studied and quantified the extent of leakage of private community information by users, by providing empirical evidence about the network or infrastructure owner’s accuracy of reconstruction of the social communities of people.
    How they manage their research?
During four months (March-June 2011), they conducted the trial on the EPFL university campus, in order to collect encounter and proximity data. Similarly to previous data collection campaigns, they programmed and distributed 80 Nokia N900 smartphones to the volunteering participants, sampling a coherent population of master’s students and instructors of two classes taught during the spring semester. The participants were asked to carry their device with them as  frequently as possible, and they were allowed to use it as their primary phone. The complete description of the goals and methods of the questionnaires and interviews is described as follows.

Why their work is unique? Indeed they are unique in three respects:
–They provide the first privacy analysis of the extent of exposure of community information in a deployed wireless network.
–They experimentally evaluate and compare the wireless sniffing stations owner’s accuracy of reconstruction of the social communities of people, based on the observed traffic patterns, with the local proximity and encounter data that is collected by the mobile devices.
–They characterize the evolution of the social interactions among the participants and evaluate the strength of their interactions by implementing three different social interaction measures that take into account the number, the proximity, the recent and aging effects of social relationships in the under lying wireless network.

At the end of the trial, they obtained useful information from 66 devices, amounting to almost 10GB of collected log data and over 8 million packets captured by the adversarial network. The procedure of analyze is rather typical, that is, they use the four steps as follows:
For better analyze the data they obtain, they construct mathematics model to conduct the basic rules. In their trial, they get two sources of proximity information:
(i) the local device logs collected by the mobile devices and containing encounter (list of neighbors, the time stamps and the RSSI values of received packets)
(ii) the adversarial (sniffing) logs containing the headers of the packets sent by the mobile devices, which include the time stamps and RSSI values of received packets at the sniffing stations, as well as the device ID of the sender.
The results provide basic evidence about the two distinct levels of community information leakage to external observers, who may be able to infer with high accuracy the different social groups and generic communities of people in pervasive networks, while being much less accurate in determining the affiliation of any particular individual to a community.

As part of our future work, they intend to pursue the analysis of this dual flow of community information leakage and derive mitigation mechanisms in order to reduce information leakage and the gap between the accuracy of both generic statistics and specific people’s affiliations to communities. They also intend to study the adversary’s accuracy of classification of the communities and their members based on the type of their relationship, such as friends, classmates, study group and strangers.
What we learn most from their case is that they use a typical close relationship, the students in this school can represent many similar ways, for example, people in the same school, company, workplace and so on. The outcome can be easily applied in similar condition. After all, most of social network is found by the close relationship.

Case Analysis—Social Cloud

Case Analysis—Social Cloud

After the great class we have this week, we really do something I have never have before. I never image that a class like that, it’s funny and interesting than all my classes before. It’s a totally different class beyond imagination.
Now let us go more details about what we get and the bright future of the social cloud. You can find the essay, my work and the great work finished by our group in the reference.

My answer to the class activity one:
Q1 Definition of social cloud:
A Social Cloud is a resource and service-sharing framework utilizing relationships established between members of a social network.
That’s to say, cloud computing in social network. (基於雲計算在社交網絡)
Q2 Application of social cloud:
The potential application scenarios that benefit from Cloud models are immense (from scalable web servers through to data intensive scientific applications).
1) A Social Computation Cloud:
2) A Social Storage Cloud:
3) A Social Collaborative Cloud:
4) A Social Cloud for Public Science:
5) An Enterprise Social Cloud:

After our group discussion, there are some differences as follows:
1) Q1: A give up the addition of the cloud computing in social networks. The point is that for a definition, we must choose the best words for summary and lest words to make it clear.
My choice of the cloud computing in social network based on the article<< Social Cloud: Cloud Computing in Social Networks >>. This is a great essay about this topic I found with limited time. It put some very sharp ideas about this area. Anyway, we were doing a case analysis and we should focus more on the original paper. So I weighted more about our group work.
2) Q2: Actually the article gives out very well summary of the basic application for social cloud Computing.

For the epistemic aims of question one & two, I think the most important thing is to find the decision-making system of individual and group work especially via social network.
Like any community, individual users of a social network are bound by finite capacity and limited capabilities. Group decision is very different it means the reasonable division of work, the common sense and capacity. Anyway, you must share your ideas to others and discuss with them based on something motion, that is, the psychological status.  It’s a very different condition. Everyone has his work, and he must do whatever he can do to support the group work in limited time.
Why the difference between my own answers and the group? I believe the outcome of a group is always the compromise——everybody’s psychology focus more about what we all support but not to insist his own idea. It’s easy to understand, everybody’s answer have something in common and something different. With limited time and the condition that the group must give out an answer, we choose what we all have and give up the difference. As our former prime minister Zhou Enlai (周恩來) puts ” seeking common ground while reserving differences”(求同存異).
What’s more, the style to solve question and find the solution is different between individual work and group work. When you must do it on yourself. You must finish the whole essay and go more details, that is, why the question is put forward and how can you solve it more comprehensive. But when it comes to group work, we guys can divide the work into different parts and focus one’s own part. Besides, group work especially social cloud can provide more ideas and new ways to analysis and solve the question.
As for the group work process, one should skin the essay at first, then he must go a bit further in his part so he can go more details. Then we have a discussion, just in this case, we write all we ideas on the board and the crash did help. What we get is a multi-angle and solid outcome. This is the point.
Anyway, we human being is in a digital century, that is, everything based on group work via computer and Internet. This why we obtain more progress in these 50 years, in fact is much more than what we get form the very beginning—the share of ideas means. Last but more important, the research of men’s reaction in group work did help when we want a more efficient group work via computer.
Our example is an much unique one because it’s a case analysis. There is a large scale patterns such as work, club and so on. As for the Social Cloud—the group work via social networking. We do have a lot to discuss.
Teamwork is very important and almost every organization need every member has a strong sense of teamwork. In my opinion, teamwork is the reflected of what you will do in group work. Then the social cloud may be configured differently depending on the details. But there must be some common rules that we need to improve, maybe we can find more when we read it beyond words, that is, how we human beings get involved and what will we focus on, the things we do and why we do it in psychology.
It’s a huge topic and maybe you can obtain more via my reference.
